He Is Elohim, The Strong and Mighty God Who Creates
Whenever I prepare for an important meeting, I want to know the names and titles of the people I will be seeing. This is not just for me to identify who are in the meeting, but more critically, to know their identity. In other words, I want to be aware of the person’s capacity to make decisions, the ability and the availability of resources the person has, and the role and responsibility he or she is functioning in.
In the same way, this applies in our relationship with God. When we begin to know the Names and Titles that God has, our faith is certainly strengthened. We move from being poverty-stricken in our daily conversations and prayers to a new level of expectations in receiving from Him, knowing that, indeed, God is always and is so much bigger than we think.
Psalm 9:10 NASB
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,
For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
O what a wonderful promise! There is something in every Name of God, and anyone who knows His name and trusts in Him, God never abandons or leaves without help.
The first Name that God revealed to us comes in the Book of Genesis. It is the name of Elohim. And it is first used in Genesis 1:1.
Genesis 1:1 NOG
In the beginning Elohim created heaven and earth.
Elohim is the plural of El which means God, Strong and Mighty. And in the record of His creation in Genesis where God’s first Name is revealed, it simply means that He is the Strong and Mighty God Who Creates.
Not only has Elohim, the Strong and Mighty God Who Creates, created the heavens and the earth, He makes you and me in the image and likeness of God.
Genesis 1:26-28 NOG
26 Then Elohim said,
“Let us make humans in Our image, in Our likeness…”
27 So Elohim created humans in His image.
In the image of Elohim He created them. He created them male and female.
28 Elohim blessed them…
Oh, how can I not love God? Elohim, the Strong and Mighty God Who Creates, does not stop when He has created you and me. Elohim blesses us. Seeing His creation, Elohim says that it is very good.
Psalm 139:14 NOG
I will give thanks to You
because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made…
Friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, pause for a moment.
Receive this lovely fact and confess this wonderful truth: “I Am Amazingly and Miraculously Made!” Yes! Say this – “I Am Amazingly and Miraculously Made!”
Give thanks to God! Praise Him that you are amazingly and miraculously made by God!
Psalm 139:16 MSG
Like an open book, You watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before You,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.
Like an architect that draws his plans and makes out every detailed specification, Elohim, the Strong and Mighty God Who Creates, has your life all established. God has planned the purpose in your life. You are no accident or a random occurrence. Like a loving Father, God has a master blueprint for every person. He has drawn out a roadmap for our life. We do not have to fret or be frenzied anymore. Our responsibility is to pray and read the Bible daily to find His will and His specific plans for us. And to obey and follow Him.
Praise God and give thanks to Elohim for “I Am Amazingly and Miraculously Made!”
So, don’t hide your light!
Let your light so shine before all
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
(Matthew 5:16 NKJV/DRA/TLB)
Let us pray together.
“O Heavenly Father, how wonderful and beautiful is Your Name, Elohim. I thank You for the privilege of being Your child, amazingly and miraculously made. I thank You that You love and hold me so dearly that You have already prepared and established every day of my life. I pray, O God, You continue to create in me the abilities, skills and resources I need to live out every plan and purpose You have for my life. Bless the works of my hands as I continue to follow Your Word as the roadmap of my life. There shall be no darkness in my life and in all the spheres that I live my life in, for I will keep shining Your light that is in me. Praise You, O God! In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
