Trust Him and Him Alone

Psalm 62:8 (NIV)
Trust in Him at all times, you people.

Our walk with God grows and deepens only when we trust in Him at all times. Our faith journey with Jesus cannot progress if we only sing in church about our trust and hope being in God but still hold on to areas of our life which we have not completely entrusted to God.

Lately, God has been showing me and dealing with me about how my life is affected by my willingness to trust Him consistently, at all times.

Our trust in Him affects how we feel.

Isaiah says this of God in Isaiah 26:3 (NLT),

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You,
all whose thoughts are fixed on You!”

If you lack peace today, I can tell you with certainty that it is because there is something or someone you are not trusting God with. Perhaps you are worried about your job situation, or you are concerned about your finances. Maybe there is a loved one of yours who has been causing you frustration or heartbreak. Whatever it is, if you will entrust the matter to God, and choose to believe that He is working things out for you in the situation, you will experience His perfect peace as you fix your eyes and thoughts on Him.

Isaiah 26:4 (NLT) continues to tell us,

“Trust in the Lord always,
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

Our Lord God is the eternal Rock Who is ever Almighty and Who never changes. His love for us never fails. His power to help us and deliver us never falls short. He is our everlasting Rock of salvation. Therefore, trust in the Lord always for with Him, nothing and no one can keep you down. And you will experience the supernatural and perfect peace right in the midst of whatever you may be going through.

Our trust in God also affects our choices and decisions. It can make the difference between experiencing God’s perfect plans for our lives, and missing out on them entirely.

Solomon wrote in Proverbs 3:5 & 6 (NKJV),

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your paths.”

In every situation and circumstance, God wants us to put our wholehearted trust in Him, and resist relying on our own wisdom and insight. As we seek His will for us, asking and believing for His direction, He will guide and guard our every step. Only then can we always be in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. Otherwise, we will miss out on the divine appointments that He has ordained for us in the course of our daily living.

Our trust in God will determine how much He can bless us.

Proverbs 28:25 (AMP) says,

“He who puts his trust in the Lord shall be enriched and blessed.”

The NIV translation says, “Those who trust in the Lord will prosper.” When we wholeheartedly rely upon God to supply all our needs and empower us with ability and resources, and fully believe that He desires to provide for us, God’s blessings in our life will overflow.

As the body of Christ, our church is going to be enriched, blessed and prosperous when each member in the body trusts and hopes in God. The peace, direction and blessings God gives to us when we trust Him are for one great purpose – that we go out to all the earth to preach His Gospel and make growing disciples of all nations. God wants us to personally encounter and experience His peace, wisdom and blessings that come from our trust in Him, so that we go out to those who are in distress to point them to Jesus Who can give them peace, that we go to those who are at crossroads in life to show them that Jesus is the Way, that we go to all people to share with them that true riches and blessings come only from Jesus.

Even as the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts today, choose to respond to Him. Surrender those areas of your life which God is pointing to you that you have not trusted Him in. Give thanks today that all that you are and all that you have are from God, our loving Father. Decide today to be active and committed in sharing God’s love and goodness to someone every day. Rise up today to wholeheartedly trust in God at all times and unreservedly build His Kingdom always.

Let us pray together.

“Dear Heavenly Father, forgive me for my doubt, unbelief and double-mindedness that have caused me to hold back my trust in You. I repent today and come back to Your throne with humility, acknowledging that You and You alone are our eternal Rock of salvation. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for reminding and urging me to put my total trust in God and His Word. I thank You, Father, that You promise in Your Word in Proverbs 16:20 that things work out when we trust in You. I commit to use all that You have given me to glorify You, to make You known and to build Your church. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
