ONE Miracle – ONE Death
Miracles! Miracles are supernatural happenings. Miracles take place because of the infinite power of our Almighty God. We all love to have miracles in our lives!
On the other hand, death is morbid. It spells grief and sad separation. Most people do not enjoy even thinking about death.
How then is it that the ONE miracle I am sharing today is actually about ONE death? It is because there is ONE death that has brought life – everlasting life in heaven and abundant life on earth. This ONE death gives us ONE miracle of salvation that none of us can gain by ourselves. It is the death of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
The Bible tells us in John 3:16 & 17 NLT :
16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
17 God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.
And in 2 Corinthians 5:18 & 19 NIV, we learn this truth:
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ…
19 that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them…
Imagine you are standing before a wall. Can you push the wall down or go through the wall to enter the room on the other side of the wall? You cannot! Even the strongest man can get to the other room only by going through the door!
Just as a wall is a barrier that separates two rooms, our sins place a barrier between us and God. We have all made mistakes. None of us is perfect. We have all sinned. This barrier of our sins is one that absolutely no one and nothing can ever break down or lift away.
But, thank God for the power of the Cross! The impenetrable barrier of our sins has been torn down by ONE death. The death of Jesus has opened a door to God’s forgiveness and freedom. Our sins can no longer separate us from God. God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ, as we have learnt earlier from 2 Corinthians 5:19.
The last words of Jesus before He gave His last breath on the Cross were, “It is finished.” Finished is the penalty of sin that we deserve. Finished is the separation of man from His beloved Creator. Finished is the power of death over us. The blood of Jesus has washed us clean, set us free and made us whole.
Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Christ we are set free by the blood of His death, and so we have forgiveness of sins. How rich is God’s grace”. Indeed, how great is God’s love! We are God’s most precious Creation. He loves us and wants to have a relationship with us, even if it means the death of His own Son. God does not want us to spend eternity separated from Him. God does not want us to live our life on earth bearing the penalty of our sins. Jesus would rather die for us than to live without us. Every time I think of how Jesus who actually had the power to prevent His death but did not, I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving by the extent of God’s love for me.
When we believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sins, confess our sins and declare that Jesus is Lord, we open the door on the wall that separates us from God. And we step into His forgiveness, redemption and eternal life. I pray that if you have never opened this door, today you make this decision and receive this ONE amazing miracle into your life. This ONE miracle possible only because of the death of Jesus is going to bring permanent change to your life. You will never be the same again! Step into His blessings and grace today.
As Christ followers, even today, in every moment of our life, the beautiful fragrance of salvation still fills our life. The resonating voice of Jesus is still saying to us, “It is finished.” Sins and wrongdoings we have ever committed, and those we are going to in the future – Jesus has paid for us the penalty. We must commit to live every day in His righteousness and according to His commandments. We must commit to share the Gospel to the people around us, so that they can know and receive this ONE miracle of salvation into their lives.
Let us pray and give thanks to God for His love and salvation.
“Our Father in heaven, thank You for loving me so much that You sent Your Son to die for my sins. Thank You for Your forgiveness of my sins and the gift of a new and everlasting life. I thank You that Your power of salvation is still at work in my life every day, giving me help and deliverance in my daily situations. I commit to live my life according to Your ways, and to always share the ONE miracle of Your salvation to the people around me. Thank You, Lord Jesus. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.”
