Ephesians 5:15-17(NIV)

15 Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise,
making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Many times in our own lives, we are bound to come face to face with undesirable situations and daunting roadblocks that could be in any nature or take any form. As much as challenging situations or areas of our lives are important for us to grow more mature in our walk with God, they are also excellent ways for us to be reminded of what should take priority over what and Who is bigger than whatever we are facing. In addition to all these I have mentioned, times like these also serve to impart the valuable lesson of change and transformation to all who go through such challenging times.

Sometimes, even for those of us who belong to Christ, things do get the better of us, and what I have come to observe over a period of time is this: When God’s provision appears to have left, people find it so easy and so convenient to blame their circumstances and at times, even God Himself. We do all that thinking we are right, all this while failing to see that we should be the agent of change that God calls us to be, not grumbling about the situation till it changes in our favor. You see, when we talk about trials and tribulations, as much as we wince when talking about them, they have a reason for being there other than to just make life difficult for the individual. These challenges are there because they are designed to tackle areas of our life that requires more of God and His Power and Wisdom. They are there so that we are solemnly reminded of the cross that we bear on our backs the moment we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. It keeps us reliant on and constantly trusting in God, dependent on Him for every good thing that He has in store for us.

When we meet with such situations in our lives, it is also usually a call for change. Change not in the situation itself, but rather, change in the way we perceive things and the way we trust God. Recall the verse that was mentioned earlier in Ephesians 5, we are called to live our lives wisely, and we do that by knowing the will of God. I am not sure about you, but I do know this: even though every single one of us has a unique purpose and calling, we cannot deny the truth that it is God’s will for us to be more like His Son, in the way we act, the way we speak, in Spirit and in truth. And so we role model after our Savior, Jesus Christ, that even in the midst of trials, He never once succumbed and gave in, He pressed on knowing the turmoil and hardship He had to go through, doing it all out of the Love of the Father. I may not know what you are going through in this season of your life, but God sure does. So remember, though trials and tribulations may befall us, it really just means change is in order, so be transformed by the renewing of your mind even as you study His Word and walk in His ways. God will be the One to see you through.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your love that knows no end and no bounds. Father, we just want to come into Your courts today with praise and thanksgiving, thanking You for Your faithfulness and goodness in our lives. We pray that even as we continue walking out our lives with You, You continue to cause such a stirring within our hearts such that we trust You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. In everything, Father, may You just continue to remind us of all the things You have done for us and cause us to be ever grateful people who love to be in Your Presence. In Jesus’ Most Mighty Name I pray, Amen.
