Living to Please Him (Part 2)

Listen to Audio

From our devotional yesterday, we know God has goals and key performance indicators for our walk with Him. But how do we start knowing what they are so that we can act on them to please God? The Word of God says in Psalms 25:14 that God will reveal His will to those who have a holy fear of Him. If we want to seek and find God’s will for our lives so that we live a life that pleases Him, we must cleanse ourselves from all sin in holy fear and draw near to Him.

As God unfolds His goals and plans to us, not only must we act on them, we must know that God has given us the power to accomplish them and to live a life that is pleasing to Him:

2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue”

One of the things provided by God for us to live a life that pleases Him is His grace! The Word of God clearly tells us in Hebrews 12:28: “Since we are receiving a Kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably.”

Grace is the divine influence from God upon our lives. It is God’s enabling work within us to help us overcome our weakness and helplessness.

Besides God’s empowerment and enabling, the completeness of Jesus has been imparted to us. We have the full nature of Jesus Christ in us to live out God’s will perfectly like how Christ has done it!

1 Peter 1:23 NKJV
“having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever”

The living Word of God which is Christ Himself, abides in us. Like a seed, all the innate qualities of Christ are in us. Christ’s nature and His enabling power in us empower us to meet the demand of truth completely:

Matthew 5:48 NKJV
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

With the grace of God and His nature, we are able to fulfill the demands of truth completely and perfectly under the New Covenant which was not possible in the Old Covenant!

Let us pray.

Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me that I have a purpose and goal in You. Today, I receive Your empowerment and enabling works in me to live out a life that is pleasing to You in every way. I choose to dwell deeper in Your Word every day because it is Christ Himself revealed and it is the way for me to bear the character of Christ in my life.  In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
