You Are Highly Valued
There was a period in my life where I lost things rather often. My newly bought mobile phone. My wallet. Important documents I needed for work the next day.
In every of those instances, I was thrown into a fluster. I would try to trace back the places I had been before. I started to make calls to anyone who might have the slightest clue about my lost item. I would do almost anything I could in the hope to retrieve what I had lost.
Why did I do that? Because those things were very important to me!
We desperately search for things we have lost and expend time and effort, no matter how inconvenient, to find them, because they are of value to us.
The Bible tells us in Luke 19:10 (NCV), “The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.”
Why would He do that? Because we are of value to God.
This is the message of Christmas – Jesus came because we are of huge value to God. Of so great a value that God sent His only and beloved Son to seek us, save us and bless us.
The Son of Man, Jesus, came to earth, lived on earth among people that we may know Him up, close and personal. Jesus came to draw all people to God where we have everlasting life in heaven and abundant life on earth.
Jesus came to die on the Cross to take upon Himself our sin and iniquity, and to give us new life and righteousness in Him. Jesus came to show the world even death cannot defeat Him when He rose to life on the third day. Because of this, all who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, also have this overcoming power in life.
“The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.” Luke 19:10 (NCV)
We matter to God. We are loved by God. We are valued by God.
This is a precious truth to me. There are times I think my skills and abilities are of not much worth. I sometimes wish I had other talents. I sometimes imagine I would be of greater worth if I had other gifts in life. Such thoughts are really frustrating. And even crippling. They make me belittle the gifts and talent God has given me and hinder me from living out the potential God has placed in me.
Today, God reminds me that He has already declared and determined our value when He gave the world His only begotten Son, Jesus. God reminds me of my true value through His Word –
“…we are God’s masterpiece…” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
“He takes great delight in you…He shouts for joy over you.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NET)…He has chosen you…to be His own special treasure.” Deuteronomy 14:2 (NLT)
As we look to the coming of Christmas in a few weeks, know why Jesus has come. He has come to seek us and save us and bless us. Because we are of utmost value to Him. This is the message of Christmas God wants us to grasp today and forever.
View yourself as Jesus views you. Not as the world views you.
You are God’s most valued masterpiece. God takes great delight in you. You are God’s own treasured possession.
When you fully embrace your value in God, you will understand also that all the people around you hold as great a value. Then, you will see others as God sees them. You value others as God values them.
What is the best activity to do during the Christmas season? I do not know about you, but I am going to do what Jesus has come to do. I am going to seek the people who have not known Jesus. I am going to reach out to them with the love and Good News of Jesus Christ. I am going to bring as many people as I can to receive the love and salvation of Jesus.
What is a good Christmas message to give to others? It is to tell them they are utterly loved by God and greatly valued by Him. Share with them Jesus has come and done all He has, for them. This may be the message that helps someone in our world to have the best Christmas ever this year.
Join me in this prayer.
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing me as the apple of Your eye. I thank You for crowning me with a value that no one and nothing can take away. No matter what others say and what circumstances come my way, who I am is founded upon You. Thank You for showing me how greatly You love me and value me by sending Your Son, Jesus, to come and give His life to bring me freedom and wholeness. Praise You, O God. Teach and help me to love and value the people around me the way You love and value me. Use me to bring the Christmas message of love and salvation to them. Holy Spirit, lead me and empower me this Christmas season to win souls for Christ. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
