Rejoice And Be Glad
The psalmist sings in Psalm 118:24 (ESV),
“This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Happy and Blessed New Year, my friends! Yes, rejoice and be glad! This is the day the Lord has made! Declare this each and every day ahead of us in this year. And see for ourselves that as we praise and lift the Name of our Lord Jesus every day, our days are going to be wonderfully filled with His joy and gladness!
Many of us may be wondering what the year ahead is going to be like. Some of us are unsure if the plans we have will turn out the way we hope. For the rest of us, perhaps we are not certain what plans we ought to make.
On this first day of the new year, God wants us to go to His Word in Jeremiah 29:11 (NET),
“For I know what I have planned for you,” says the LORD. “I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you a future filled with hope.”
Receive and believe this promise of God, my friend. God has your year ahead in His Hands. His plans for you are prosperity, peace and hope. Trust and have faith in our ever faithful God Who brings all His promises to fulfillment.
God promises. And God provides a way for us to be living in His promises.
The way is shown in the Words spoken by Jesus in Mark 12:30 (NLT/NIV),
29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen…! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
God wants us to start the year with what is the most important. We must in all things, acknowledge that Jesus is our one and only Lord and Master. Jesus alone is Who we live for and He rules and reigns in every area of our life.
God commands us to first and foremost, love and obey Him with everything that we have got. Every faculty and capacity of ours ought to display at every moment that God is our supreme treasure. Loving God is treasuring God. Loving God is doing what pleases Him.
The love that God asks of us is not merely an emotional or sensational type of love. He is seeking our true, complete love for Him. It is more than just a feeling, an action or knowledge. God desires and commands a love that draws from every part of our being. Anything short of this, is not complete.
Imagine that I tell you I have the greatest physique with sculpted muscles. But of what good will all of these muscles be if I have heart disease? I may look good on the outside, but if my heart is sick and diseased, my outward physique does not bring me much benefit.
God commands that we love Him with all of our being – on the outside and from the inside.
Through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has expressed and demonstrated His all-encompassing love for us. He more than deserves us to love Him back with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.
To love God, we must know God. As our understanding and knowledge of God grows, our capacity to love God also increases. The Word of God is key to knowing God and loving God.
This year, commit to place Jesus on the throne of your life. Give our total devotion and complete commitment to loving, obeying and serving God.
Love God with every beat of your heart. Love God with every thought of your mind. Love God with every vibe of your soul. Love God with every ounce of your strength.
Then, you will see yourself walking in God’s plans that He has promised in Jeremiah 29:11, where you are prosperous, having a future filled with His hope.
This is the year that the Lord has made. Love Him and obey Him with all you have got. Rejoice and be glad! Have a very fabulous year ahead in Jesus’ Name!
Let us pray together.
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the great and wonderful plans You have for me in this new year. Because of Your love and goodness toward me, I know, O God, every day ahead of me is going to be filled with Your prosperity and blessing. I desire to and commit to follow You wholeheartedly. Lord, I purpose to know You more and more each day, reading Your Word and doing Your Word. I love You and obey You with everything that I am and have. Come and reign in every area of my life. Lord, let my life be one that is truly about You. Yes, Lord, I love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.”
