Aspire To Inspire
Isaiah 40:6 & 8 (NIV)
All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers on the field…
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.
It has been especially the case these few days that I have been starting to think about the act of leaving behind legacies and what does it actually mean for us as Christians. Though I am not that old, the thought never crossed my mind that it was too early or too late to ponder seriously and carefully over such things. In fact, I think that wherever you are in your walk with Christ now, giving thought to this would definitely aid and strengthen your walk with our Father. Where do you see yourself to be in your relationship with God five or ten years down the road? What do you want to achieve with the remainder of your time here on earth?
Questions like these really help you to probe and reflect on your innermost desires and they help you to see yourself for who you really are, no acts, no gimmicks. Sometimes God uses reality to give us a gentle nudge and other times, a rude awakening. I may, God permit, have a good few decades of years to go before I leave this place but I have been reminded time and again by Him that all these can go by in the blink of an eye or a snap of the finger with me achieving nothing that has its place in eternity.
I feel that God is telling me, and of course to all of you, to make the time count, to make it matter. He doesn’t want us to go full throttle into solely pursuing the things of this world that will eventually spoil and fade away. God wants us to do His will and serve His purpose so that we may live out in full the promises He has pronounced upon us even before we came into existence. I really believe that we have been called above and beyond the mundanities of this life, be it the struggle to climb the corporate ladder or to constantly be pressured to come out on top amongst your peers.
God, in all His power, has put you there and He will make sure you thrive as long as you do what He wants you to do and that your heart is right before Him. God doesn’t need people who give because they only want to receive. He wants and honors those that will still offer to lay down their livelihood and trust in Him even though all that they can see ahead of them is hopelessness and despair. As long as we are immersed in His Word and His Presence, it is going to be hard to hide that anointing and charisma even if we try. People will be able to know that you live and breathe His Word just by looking at you and seeing the way you talk. You will be an inspiration to other followers of Christ and those to come. That is the legacy I want to leave behind and it’s my prayer that yours will be something similar as well.
No doubt challenges and difficulties will come our way. Those that truly love the Lord and seek to know Him deeper will be led to their cross and will be trialed by fire. But honestly, I would rather have the presence of God over the absence of the problem any day. Therefore, aspire to inspire today. Time is a ticking so Carpe Diem!
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your unchanging and undying love for us. I pray for the strength and the discipline for me to be able to build a closer relationship with You, to be able to live and breathe Your Word and walk in Your ways for the remainder of my life. May Your Holy Spirit just fill me up and inspire me to be the change that this generation so desperately needs. Even though I know what lies ahead of me may not be a bed of roses, but I wouldn’t want to have it any other way as long as You are here with me. Fulfill Your purpose in me Father, even as I lay down all that I am at Your feet. Thank You for coming to my rescue in my time of need and may everything I do glorify Your name alone, Lord. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
