Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)
13I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
These are the verses that I feel God has given to me for some time now and I know it does me good whenever I proclaim them out loud every now and then, because doing it not only causes my faith to get an instantaneous strengthening but through it, I am also constantly reminding myself to be submitted to God so that I am placed in a better position to live out the callings and purposes that He has placed in my life. I believe that today, there are some of you out there that may fall into this category. Whether you are unsure of what His will for you is this season or that you are going through a rough patch now and you are literally on the verge of just throwing everything down and waving your white flag, God wants you to know today that He is far from being done with you.
Yes, true as it is that when we pray and ask our Father for whatever we desire, it shall be given to us as long as it is aligned to His will, and by faith, as long as we believe it, it will be ours. But there will inevitably be those times where you follow all you think there is to follow but yet the request of your heart is not immediately answered, in fact, it could very well be greeted with even harsher opposition and persecution. Whether it is because of the nature of the request or if God is just causing other things to fall into place before He grants that request of yours or whatever else the reason might be, you and I might never get to know of it but it does not and should not matter to you, because when a time such as this comes along, it usually means that a test is being issued. And unlike most tests that have letter grades to indicate performance, this test can only go one of two ways: Pass or Fail.
To choose Christ, or to choose the world? To choose career, or the calling of God? These are simple either-or questions that many of us Christians struggle with at some points in our life because we feel we are putting so much on the line. If you feel that way, may I bring you back to Jesus Christ, because He who knew no sin became sin for all of us, tortured, mocked and crucified not for His own sake but for ours. Think about it, can we really offer more than what He gave? The world may look enticing with all its ‘splendors’, but if you think that is attractive, you probably haven’t really experienced what God can do. Therefore my brothers and sisters, I encourage you to wait upon the Lord and take heart no matter how hard the going gets, because if you are going through it, it means He has deemed you capable and worthy of taking this test. Remember, if you look overhead and all you see are an overcast sky and dark clouds, it means the rain of harvest is coming. If you feel you are surrounded by your enemies, it means He is preparing your banquet table before them. Patience and obedience, when founded in the right places, will indeed produce good grades in the eyes of the Lord.
“Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for everything that I am going through because I know that You did not call me here to be conformed to the world but to be the change that this generation desperately needs. In everything, Father, I place my trust in You and to all the situations that I face I will say to them that You are my Helper and my Provider and none shall overwhelm me because You are the God who rescues me and calms my heart. Father, I am confident that I will see Your goodness in my life. Grant me the strength to endure whatever that comes my way for Your sake and may my actions always find pleasure in Your eyes. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
