John 15:4-5 (NIV)
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Everyone has insecurities. For those who belong to God, our insecurities ought to be a matter of the past as we now find our security in Christ. However sometimes, when things don’t go right and take a turn for the worse, many of us end up with a diminished and fainter level of faith and hope that God will be able to pull us through. We slowly begin to utilize less of the authority that we have been given in Christ, doubt starts to creep in and before long, the dreams we once had are now dead and buried away, the things we do that were once right have been abandoned and we are back to our old ways, old mindsets. Things may not be as bad as I have described them out to be but I am sure that as Christians, there have been periods of times where our faith has been seriously tested and stretched, almost to the point of breaking down. They are not restricted to only the young or the old Christians because as long as we are in this world, these things we must face, the only difference is that different seasons of our lives call for different issues that God wants us to work on.

What I want to bring across today is really in essence a reminder of the power and the might we have in Christ Jesus. Like any other person, I too occasionally fall into the play of the devil, where his theory is that having two reasons beat one. Why do I say so? See, the devil likes to plant seeds of doubts in our minds, to make use of other people’s judgments and opinions against the things God has intended for us to do. The devil talks in terms of opinions and limitations and giving every reason available just to prevent God’s Kingdom from advancing. He wants you to stop showing love and compassion for others, he makes it real hard to deter you too. But God on the other hand, is a gentle Father, He tells us what is right and He provides the strength and provision we need to tide over every situation. However, many times, due to the hundred and one reasons that the devil throws at us, it can sometimes cloud the minds of us as believers. You see, ultimately, though the world may have every reason why we should not do as God’s Word says, we as His children have to learn how to abide in Him. We have to know that the world comes from a point of view where very often, self comes first, but for us, we have long given up that self the world is talking about, so that really means that whatever they say doesn’t apply to us anymore. It’s not that we are able to find it within ourselves to love people unconditionally but because of the love that was first shown to us by God.

Therefore my friends, remember, in the time of our lives, many false vines will come our way, almost appearing as though they were the real one. But in everything, always remember that Jesus is the one, true vine in whom we trust and can put our faith in. Even though the storms of life may come and try to tear us down, we have to be assured of our identity in Christ and that He is the one true vine Who is more than sufficient for us.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a new life and a new identity. I thank You, Lord, that when I said the prayer of salvation, my old self has died to itself and in its place Your Holy Ghost has taken up His rightful place in me. Father, we thank You that You now live inside of us. We hold firm to Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us, we thank You that wherever we go, there You will be. So Lord, we just want to ask and receive the things You have provided us with to overcome the challenges of our lives and to emerge as a victor in You. We give You praise, for we know that if You are for us, no one can be against us. Thank You, Lord Jesus. In Your Most Mighty Name we pray, Amen.
