Acts 14:22 (NKJV)
… “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

John 16:33 (NKJV)
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

We can acknowledge from the above Scriptures that God has warned us that the life we live will not be free from trials and neither will it be a walk in the park. So as Christians, what can we do to face this onslaught that the devil throws at us daily? What are some of the promises that God has given us to see us through our storms?

Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV)
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

God tells us to embrace our tribulations joyfully for they build us up to face greater challenges. A spiritually immature Christian is one whose faith is easily shaken by trouble. God does not want us to be like that, He wants us to be rooted in Him forever, unaffected by what the world throws at us. If our faith is weak, how can we run the race set out for us in a crooked and perverse generation?

God does not give us a formula to our challenges like: “Ten ways to conquer your obstacles.” Instead, He assures us that He will be right there with us all the way. Especially for great trials, God provides great comfort to prepare His children so that they are ready to overcome them. When Joseph was going through a tough time in Egypt, from being betrayed, to a slave and then to a prisoner; God was with him the entire time and blessed him abundantly in all that he was doing. Therefore, if you are going through a rough season, look to God, He is by your side.

Genesis 50:20 (NKJV)
But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

What Joseph’s brothers intended for evil, God intended for good. The same is for our lives. Maybe we don’t always have the answer as to why God does what He does, but I know from His Word and from my experiences that hope in God never fails and He does many amazing things through the trials that we face. No evil in our lives will prevent God from working out His plans for us. He has a plan and timing for everything. Your suffering is not meaningless, God can use it to train you, and He will use it for good. It’s an indescribable feeling to be able to be at peace when everything around you is crumbling, because you know God will never let the ground below you fall.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

God promises us that He is unchanging, His faithfulness towards us will never disappear, His love towards us will never decrease. A key to beating the trials of your life is to not let how good or bad your day is dictate your response. Since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then we should be making steady progress in Him regardless of our circumstances.

Think carefully about what God is trying to teach or tell you by placing you through the trial. Could it be to train your patience? To deal with your pride? To teach you how to love others more? There is plenty to get out of the trials we face; we just need to learn to identify what God wants to tell us. We must be vigilant and observe and develop our spiritual lives consistently so that we live our life in line with God’s will, and follow His path of righteousness. God will never lead you to a trial or place you in a position that causes you to drift from Him. He has everything in the palm of His hands, He is in control. Don’t let yourself fall into the trap that you need to do this by yourself. He is your Shepherd.

The joy of suffering is not about waiting to see how all the circumstances are going to turn out after God works everything for good, but rather it is about experiencing the sweetness in Christ right now in the moment.

Let’s pray.

“Dear Heavenly Father, You are good all the time and I thank You for that. My circumstances may be ever-changing, but Lord, You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Whatever trials I may be facing, please bring to light what it is You want to teach or tell me regarding my life. Please surface any sins or mistakes that I am making Lord, so that I may be led back to Your path of righteousness. Do not let me be affected by the good or bad days, but help me to be anchored in Your unchanging love for me. I thank You Jesus, that I know You intend all these trials and tough times for good and I can be at peace because I know You will never let the floor beneath me fall. Thank You so much, Father. In Jesus’ Most Mighty Name I pray. Amen.”
